In 1971, a small company was created to sell and repair copiers, typewriters, and cash registers. The assets were purchased by Patrick J. Searcy (President) in April of 1993 and Copymart Business Systems, Inc. was born.
The original location was in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and was mostly a small organization. Since Patrick had majored in Electronic Engineering Technology and had served as the Service Manager for a local competitor several changes were immediately implemented. One of the main changes was moving the service department from reactive to a ‘proactive’ department. Those changes brought swift growth and by the end of 1994, more space was needed. We then moved to the current location near Arrowhead Stadium.
During the mid to late nineties a rapid change was taking place within the industry. Digital copiers where coming to market, connectivity was the talk, and Kyocera purchased Mita, full color copiers and high-end laser printers were becoming more affordable. Connecting them to networks were becoming common and Kyocera began developing back office integration.
In addition to copier and printer service, Power On began providing customers with service options for their network and server/client support and needed a name that reflected that, in November 2005 Copymart was changed to Power On Technologies, Inc. The next decade landed Power On several awards including: 100 fast Growing Companies by Ingram’s, Inc., 25 under 25® by the Kansas City Small Business Monthly Magazine. And as one of the Top 50 Companies to watch through the KCB and KC Magazines along with numerous chamber accolades.
In 2019 Network Computer Solutions merged with Power On. Derrick Weigel is the President and Kevin Stous is the General Manager. Today, Power On empowers Kansas City area businesses with imaging equipment, scanning equipment and document management software, networking, computer, and server support along with VoIP phone equipment and phone service.
